Crown of Springs

Harrogate’s emblem

Client

Harrogate Town Council

The Crown of Springs is a place emblem for Harrogate. Inspired by the mineral waters that shaped the town, and by its gardens, landscape and decorative traditions, it offers a distinctive marker through which Harrogate can recognise and express itself.

Harrogate has long been represented through civic heraldry, visitor campaigns and individual institutions, but lacked a contemporary symbol for the place as a whole. The Crown of Springs brings its deeper qualities together in a form that feels rooted, recognisable and open to future interpretation.

Developed alongside the Town Council identity, it performs a different role from the Council’s coat of arms. The arms represent the authority. The Crown of Springs represents the town, designed to live across public space, culture, placemaking, events and community life.
